Tavoite

Target
Acquire skills in the care and feeding of dairy cattle and in milk production work so as to be able to act as a farm relief worker for dairy farms. Study units of vocational upper secondary qualification in Agriculture: Working In Agriculture (Työskentely maatalousalalla 15 osp) and Production Animal Care and Welfare (Tuotantoeläinten hoitaminen ja hyvinvoinnista huolehtiminen 30 osp) .

Contents of studies

Work:
Annual turnover of the farm and main work
Production animal observation, treatment, care and feeding work
Quality monitoring work and documentation related to production
Maintenance of farm buildings and assessment of conditions

Use of machines and automation for the treatment, feeding and handling of livestock animals

Theory:
Husbandry and welfare of dairy cattle
Feed and feeding
Diseases and first aid
Milk hygiene
Livestock breeding
Accounting requirements
Production monitoring and profitability
Farm relief worker´s community and work

Finnish language studies if needed

Toteutus

Achievement

- training is planned personally for each student:
Studies at the educational institution
Acquiring knowledge and skills at work on farms
After the basic studies competent students have an opportunity to make apprenticeship contract with relief worker office (contract includes salary)

Studies and competence test/vocational skills demonstration are in Finnish language
